5 Ways to Create a Spa Experience at Home

Every once in a while, we need to feel rejuvenated in order to attain the optimum level of efficiency. A spa offers you just the right environment to relax and pamper yourself after days and weeks of hard work. But if you lead a busy lifestyle, or you are short on cash, you may not have the time to visit a spa regularly. However, there is no need to worry. With a little ingenuity, you can create a spa experience right at home.

1. Lie down on a mat and listen to soothing music

An essential feature of every spa is the soft and tranquil music playing faintly and unobtrusively in the background. Such music has the power to slow down your mind and relax your body. As you listen to the soothing music, your heartbeat slows down which helps reduce blood pressure. At the same time your body produces more serotonin, which increases happy thoughts. You can find plenty of soothing and relaxing music on YouTube. Choose the one that makes you the most comfortable.

2. Surround yourself with the aroma of scented candles

As soon as you walk into a spa, you become aware of the beautiful and soothing aroma of perfumes. You can create the same experience at home by lighting scented wellness candles. Choose candles that contain essential oils as they release a faint scent continuously in the air as they burn. Sit down on a comfortable chair and relax or do meditation on a mat, inhaling and exhaling the scented air slowly. This helps quiet your mind and relax your spirit.

3. Apply essential oils on your body

Essential oils are an essential part of a spa treatment. Extracted from plants and flowers, they are available in a variety of scents. Used as body scrubs and moisturizers, they have many amazing properties that include generating new, healthy cells and restoring your skin's vitality. To apply, add a few drops in a bowl of warm water, soak a washcloth in the water, and compress it on your face and the rest of your body for five minutes. After that, dry your skin with a towel. You skin will glow after just one application.

4. Scrub away the unhealthy skin from your body

Skin exfoliation is one of the most important treatments offered in a spa. This treatment is done to open the clogged pores that are filled with toxins and to remove the dead and unhealthy skin. To get this experience at home, put a small amount of salt or sugar scrub on a sponge or washcloth and gently scrub your body until your skin becomes soft and glowing. Refrain from using soap or body shampoo to scrub your skin since they do not produce the same effect.

5. Take a steam bath in your bathroom

Steam baths are an essential feature of a spa. It helps open clogged pores and helps your skin retain nutrients. This can be done in the comfort of your home in your bathroom. Once you fill your bathtub with hot, steaming water. Sit or stand next to the tub, letting your skin absorb the steam. Five to 10 minutes  is enough to revitalize your skin and refresh your mind.
