Have a Staycation This Summer With These Tips

Sometimes, the most relaxing thing you can do when you've got some time off from work or school is to have a vacation at home. Staycation's are a wonderful way to unwind, reconnect with loved ones, and take in some much-needed "me time." Of course, you'll also want to make your time at home interesting, so here are a few tips for making the absolute best of a staycation that matches your interests.

Create a Home Resort

Get some spa supplies like essential oils and natural moisturizers for spa treatments you can do at home. For instance, shea butter and a combination of sea salt and olive oil makes for a great foot scrub for your home pedicure. You can also make face masks from kitchen ingredients like avocado, oatmeal and strawberries. It's also a good idea to hire a personal chef for your staycation, so you can actually feel like you're relaxing. Invite your friends over to enjoy your home resort with you, and you've got the perfect vacation.

Get Your House Cleaned

This may not sound like a vacation, but you'll likely feel much better if you have your home cleaned from top to bottom. Your space will be free of clutter, which will probably make you feel more relaxed and ready to vacation. After all, you'll be staying at home during your vacation, and you want to make sure that you're in a neat and clean environment so you can enjoy your time away from your work. The clean space may even inspire you to cook that recipe you've been wanting to try or catch up on a good book.

Keep the Kids Occupied

If your children will be enjoying your staycation with you, organize a babysitting schedule with friends or family members. For instance, you can volunteer to keep all the children whose parents have entered into the agreement for a day, and then your children will go to a loved one's house with the rest of their friends while you enjoy a day at home. Organize fun things for the kids to do as well, such as pizza parties or pool time fun to ensure that everyone is happy.

Plan a Local Outing

Even though most of your vacation will consist of relaxing at home, it's a good idea to plan a local outing to make the staycation complete. Get tickets to a museum near your home, or plan to attend a concert in your city. Or, you can make reservations at a restaurant you've been meaning to try. Taking time to unwind is important, but so is being able to catch up on doing the things you enjoy.

Spend Some Time Outdoors

Finally, take advantage of the warm weather by spending a little time outside. Light some candles in the backyard and enjoy dinner with your sweetie. Organize a BBQ and have your friends over. Or visit a local park or campsite to spend a night under the stars or take a hike. The tranquil quality of nature is one of the best ways to make your staycation one you'll always remember.
