There’s nothing like being successful on a day-to-day basis, especially when you feel it was one of your more productive days. However, there are some days when you’re not successful due to the chaos of non-productivity. It’s a known fact that productivity makes for better routines and the rate of success is based on this fact. So what’s stopping you? Do you ever have those days when you feel it was better if you hadn’t gotten out of bed? If you want to be productive, you can be. It’s all about the preparation. Here are five ways to make your day more productive.
1. Daytime is the right time
Getting out of bed shouldn’t be a chore, but rather something to look forward to. What you need to do is greet each day with a plan. A good breakfast and exercise is a great way to start your day. Avoid heavy meals and drink a lot of water in the morning and throughout the day. A good morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day Facebook, emails and other social networks can wait for you so don’t turn on the computer during this time. As tempting as it can be, this is also not a time to multitask. Clutter is counter-productive so make sure your work area is clean and organized.
2. Goals, time and the meaning of focus
You need to see what’s ahead so you can deal with upcoming tasks. Set achievable goals, allocate time to do the tasks and simply concentrate. Know the night before what morning meetings you have to do that day and schedule future meetings. If you need to assign tasks or tackle your to-do list, this is the time to do this. It’s important to keep to a schedule no matter how big or small the task is.
3.The art of activity
Get rid of any distractions while you budget your time. Make sure there’s ample time for breaks and rewards throughout the day so you’ll always have a clear mind. Remember, the result of productivity is about managing your time effectively while prioritizing tasks.
4. Getting to the finish line
As the day progresses, you realize that focusing on one thing at a time makes the day go faster and more goals become achievable. Throughout the day, make sure you monitor your progress against your goals. If you feel you aren’t going to complete what you need to do, don’t be afraid to say no and reschedule the task for another, more doable time.
5. Kick back and relax.
This is the time to reflect on what you’ve done or haven’t done. Don’t beat yourself up about what hasn’t been done if it’s not a priority. Try to close your day on a strong, upbeat note. Celebrate the little things that were accomplished because it actually has been completed and you don’t have to address the task again.
