5 Best Christmas Apps of 2017

With Christmas approaching quickly, everyone’s busy getting ready for the season. Whether you’re shopping, cooking, or entertaining this holiday season, you might find yourself in need of an extra dose of holiday spirit or a tool to help you get through those holiday tasks. Luckily, there is a myriad of Christmas apps available for mobile devices. Here are five of my favourite Christmas apps this year:

Christmas RADIO

iOS | Android; Free

Christmas RADIO is the perfect app for Christmas music lovers. (And really, who doesn’t love Christmas music?!) Streaming over Wi-Fi, Christmas RADIO features more than 80 unique stations. It even allows you to stream North Pole Radio, which broadcasts directly from the North Pole.

The app is free but if you prefer an ad free listening experience, you can get it for a $0.99 in-app purchase.

Google Santa Tracker

Android; Free

While the NORAD Santa Tracker has been the standard for keeping tabs on Santa as he travels around the world, I prefer Google’s Santa Tracker. This app offers games, activities, and a countdown timer for kids leading up to the big day. On December 24th, the app tracks Santa’s journey around the world. It also offers Google Cardboard VR and Android Wear support.

For those who don’t have an Android device, Google has made the Santa Tracker available on the web as well.

The Christmas List

iOS; $3.99

If you often find yourself overwhelmed by Christmas shopping, The Christmas Gift List is here to help. This app allows you to import contacts from your address book, set a budget for each person, and quickly enter gifts along with photos. You can also use it to keep track of which gifts have shipped, arrived, and been wrapped. To help make shopping more collaborative, the app lets you share lists using AirDrop, email, iCloud Drive, or Messages. Basically, this app stands to change your entire Christmas shopping experience.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

iOS | Android; $5.49

Every child (and parent) loves Dr. Seuss’ classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas and now it’s available in an interactive app. Not only is this classic Christmas story narrated within the app but you’ll also find games and activities. Parents can even track minutes spent reading and pages read within the app.

Elf Adventure Christmas

iOS | Android; $0.99
Finally, what’s Christmas without an advent calendar? And while chocolate is a great treat, an interactive app-based advent calendar will keep kids engaged much longer. Elf Adventure Christmas features a new mini-game every day that unlocks part of a story. This app will keep younger kids interested and engaged throughout the holiday season.
