As 2018 approaches, many of us seek to prepare ourselves for the upcoming year by learning new marketing know-how. From old fashion books, to marketing blogs and podcasts, here’s my list of where to get new marketing know-how for the new year.
The Content Code (Book)
We’re all marketers which means we’re all content creators. But we’re not all as astute as we need to be to see a return on our content marketing. Enter The Content Code, a book outlining six content marketing hacks that will take your small business marketing into the stratosphere. With so many ideas per page, it’s hard to keep up so even if you’ve read The Content Code in the past, you’ll likely find more value with each re-read.
Content Marketing Institute (Blog)
If you feel like you have your content marketing strategy pretty well aligned, or you’re looking for best practices, rather than new ideas, the Content Marketing Institute (CMI) blog is going to be your favorite new resource for marketing know-how. With a plethora of expert advice and how-to's, you’re sure to find something new. If you haven’t already, subscribe to their newsletter to get snackable, valuable content from their blog of expert marketers.
Duct Tape Marketing (Podcast)
Chances are, you’re familiar with the Duct Tape Marketing book and blog. But this podcast focuses on interviewing A-list marketers on the latest marketing hacks and growth strategies that appeal to small businesses. And because it’s a podcast, there’s no reason you can’t listen to it on your commute to and from the office.
Marketing: A Love Story, How to Matter to Your Customers (Book)
Don’t get deterred by the fact that this is a book. In reality, How to Matter to Your Customers is a series of blogs written by author Bernadette Jiwa around creating an emotional connection between you and your customers. At just 80 pages, it’s perfect for your next flight or train ride.
Social Pros (Podcast)
If you feel like you have a good handle on marketing, the Social Pros podcast is hosted by Jay Baer and Adam Brown and is exactly what you need to brush up on new marketing know-how in 2018. With guests from big Fortune 500 pressed for insights by Baer, you can easily get lost in the extensive library of episodes that are available on demand.
By breathing new life into your marketing, you might find 2018 to be your best year yet!
